We have been acquiring and collecting high quality 19th and early 20th century art, primarily European artists.  Although our primary area of collecting and investing is vintage movie and historical memorabilia we have been drawn in to the world of vintage fine art.  Over the past couple of years we have realized the excitement, beauty and investment potential of collecting these breathtaking treasures from some of the most talented and gifted artists of the past. .

 

!BANG: FOREST IN AUTUMN TIME

ARTIST: Signed "CB" in monogram. Christian Bang (1868-1950) is a well-listed artist. He graduated from Kunstakademiet (the Academy of Fine Arts ) in Copenhagen in 1897 and traveled to France , Italy and Germany . He received Neuhausen's Prize in 1899 and several scholarships. He exhibited at Charlottenborg, Kunstnernes Efteraarsudstilling (the Artists' Fall Exhibition) and Kunstnerforeningen (the Artist Society). Christian Bang's favorite motif was the landscape and he found his inspiration in the area around Naestved, Zealand . Stylistically, he followed the tradition of P.C. Skovgaard. Bang did a number of altarpieces and also worked as a drawing teacher at the Royal Court in Denmark . He is represented at Frederiksborg museum. Price example: He sold "The Visit to the Studio of Thorvaldsen 1899" for $32,000 at Christie s, New York , in May 2000 ( Lot 116, 55 3/4" by 65 1/6").
DATING: Late 19th Century.

DAHL: VILLAGE HOUSES

ARTIST: Signed "Th. B. D.". Theodore Bernard Dahl (1886-1971) is a well-listed listed artist. He was the son of a bricklayer and an autodidact painter. He received a number of scholarships due to his talent and was a Charlottenborg painter. He was rewarded with the Eckersberg prize (a prize from the Academy of Fine Arts ) for one of his harvest landscapes and for a painting of the Doom. Th. Dahl held a number of one-man exhibitions. Although he traveled in Europe and made study travels to Berlin , Dresden and Munich , it was the Danish landscape he held dearest. Th. Dahl was a painter who carried on J. Th. Lundbye's tradition of national landscapes. 
DATING: First part of the 20th Century.

WEGENER: FISHERMAN'S COTTAGE

ARTIST: Signed "Einar Mogens Wegener". Einar Mogens Wegener (1882-1931) is a well-listed artist. He was educated at Kunstakademiet (the Academy of Fine Art ) in Copenhagen and traveled to France and Italy . From 1912 he lived in Paris . The story of the artist couple Wegener is quite unusual. He and his wife, Gerda Wegener, worked very closely together. Einar Wegener supported his wife's carrier by taking care of managing what was connected with promoting her art and painted e.g. backgrounds for her. She became a very famous painter and drawer in Paris before and after the First World War. Einar Wegener often posed as the female model for Gerda, and in 1930 he had a sex change operation in Germany . Shortly after, their marriage was found invalid by court and they divorced. Gerda married again, but her carrier was ruined. In his own works Einar Wegener often painted landscapes from the place where he came from, Vejle in Jutland, and later scenes from the countryside in France . Einar Wegener received Neuhausens prize in 1907 and exhibited at Kunstnernes Efteraarsudstilling (the Artists Fall Exhibition), Vejle Art Museum and in the Saloon and Salon d'Automme in Paris . He is represented at Vejle Art Museum

OLSEN: DANISH SHIP IN SEASCAPE Art Oil Painting

ARTIST: Signed "Chr. Benjamin Olsen". Christian Benjamin Olsen (1873-1935) is a well-listed artist. Self-taught under the guidance of Chr. Blache. He travelled widely and went on marine expeditions to the Faroe Islands, Iceland , Greenland , Scotland , Spain , Tenerife , Portugal , Italy (the royal couple's journeys). He received Neuhausens Prize in 1919. Benjamin Olsen focused on rendering ships, sea and sky as precisely as possible. He followed the tradition from Vilh. Arnesen and Chr. Blache. In his small works he has made intense studies of sea and air. He exhibited at Charlottenborg, Kunstnernes Efteraarsudstilling (the Artists' Fall Exhibition), in Brooklyn and at Valdemar Castle . His works can be found in the Trade and Navigation Museeum ( Kronborg Castle ) and at the museum at Koldinghus. There is a collection of his art at Middelfart Museum . Price example: He sold "The Greenland ferry Gustav Holm" for $7,247 at Kunsthallen, Copenhagen , in January 1991 ( Lot 133, 33 1/2" by 48").
