For the past 25 years we have collected, bought and sold the most rare and desirable Autographed treasures, Vintage Movie Posters, Historical Memorabilia, antique toys, and other RARE antiques and collectibles. Over the past several years we have fallen prey to the joy and investment potential with High Quality Fine Art, particular oil paintings from some of the most talented artists of the last three centuries.

Although we have acquired some great work from popular American Artists, it has been the stunning classic landscapes, villages and ships at sea from Demark , Norway and other European countries that has captured our admiration and often leaves us in awe. Our collection is comprised of 18th, 19th Century and early 20th Century. Our exciting collection embraces primarily Realism, but also ventures into Abstract and Impressionism.

Most of our vintage art is signed by a "Listed Artist" and for some we list auction result examples for that artist's work. On others without a signature? Well, these were such incredibly amazing works of art, we just didn't care if there was a signature or not. One such example is the amazing "Battle at Sea" below. It is signed, however, we've yet to identify the artist. But what an astonishing piece. We think you will agree.

OLSEN: DANISH SHIP IN SEASCAPE Art Oil Painting

A calm and tranquil seascape with a well-illustrated sail ship.

ARTIST: Signed "Chr. Benjamin Olsen". Christian Benjamin Olsen (1873-1935) is a well-listed artist. Self-taught under the guidance of Chr. Blache. He travelled widely and went on marine expeditions to the Faroe Islands, Iceland , Greenland , Scotland , Spain , Tenerife , Portugal , Italy (the royal couple's journeys). He received Neuhausens Prize in 1919. Benjamin Olsen focused on rendering ships, sea and sky as precisely as possible. He followed the tradition from Vilh. Arnesen and Chr. Blache. In his small works he has made intense studies of sea and air. He exhibited at Charlottenborg, Kunstnernes Efteraarsudstilling (the Artists' Fall Exhibition), in Brooklyn and at Valdemar Castle . His works can be found in the Trade and Navigation Museeum ( Kronborg Castle ) and at the museum at Koldinghus. There is a collection of his art at Middelfart Museum . Price example: He sold "The Greenland ferry Gustav Holm" for $7,247 at Kunsthallen, Copenhagen , in January 1991 ( Lot 133, 33 1/2" by 48").

BATTLE SCENE w. DANISH SHIPS 1894 Art Oil Painting

The frame is in a good condition. Ready to hang. Superb Danish Second Empire Frame, ca. 1850. A compound profile frame with an integral flat and hollow sight edge liner, an acanthus leaf anthemion ogee panel, lotus leaf répassé and a high reeded oak leaf and berry top edge. Beautiful mellow original gilding is a combination of mat oil gilding and burnished silver gilding, as typical of the period. This type of European Biedermeier frame, very common to maritime works, inspired the frame choice and design of the American painters of the Hudson River School . An excellent and contemporary complement to this work.

Stunning Seascape Moonlight Scene

Striking 19th Century Moonlight scene, with sail ships, mountains and fishermen.

Artist: Cannot see a signature

Date: Early 20th century. Because this piece was paperbacked long ago, the canvas apparently didn't suffer the usually darkening and corrosion often seen with opened backed canvas paintings. Hence, the canvas looks clean. However, the mounting, old brittle paper backing and frame suggests this was from early 1900's.

Condition: Exceptional. None of the usually crackling. This is most likely result to being paperbacked preventing moisture and air from coming through the rear of canvas into the paint.

Size: 22.5x27" framed, 14x20" unframed.
