SUPERB JOHN
WAYNE SENIOR HIGH YEARBOOK 1925
Offered here is what today, some 79
years after it was issued, must be now one of only a very few of this
particular historical piece - which touches the heart and brings a true
American Hero back to life as a young man. John 'The Duke' Wayne's 1925
Senior Class Yearbook from Glendale Union High School in Glendale,
California.
In near pristine condition,
with no evidence of wear, markings or mistreatment in its 79 years, is
truly remarkable.
This personal memento of The Duke's (yes, he was known as The Duke
even then!) days as a young man is incredible in its portrayal of
the young Marion Morrison - who later would be known in all corners of
the world as the quintessential icon of the American West - John Wayne.
As President of his Junior and Senior
Classes, as Chairman of the Senior Dance Committee, as a dashing Guard
on the Varsity Football team (where his team photo displays a magnetic
smile which would grace the screens of theatres across the globe for the
next five decades) - the young Duke Wayne can be seen as you have never
viewed him before. This yearbook also shows us a glimpse of the magical
world of Southern California one would have experienced in 1925 - a time
of innocence and simplicity which is now hard to imagine.
Decidedly rare, marvelous in its
beautiful condition, and wonderfully representative of the early life of
a man who is much revered today, this piece is one of which you most
likely will not see another, especially in this marvelous condition. If
you love John Wayne or have a loved one who does, having this book of
memories of his days as Marion Morrison is something you'll find
priceless and extremely precious.
